Forno Family Photo Album – Unique Oven Installs

Our staff loves working closely with customers to ensure that the oven they select is the perfect fit for their needs.  In the process, customers become friends, as they share stories about their families, cooking styles, and inspirations with us. We would like to share some of these stories with you too!

Casa2G90 Modular Oven Kit – Stucco – Cindy B. – Folsom, CA

Cindy B. of Folsom, CA created a 3-season outdoor kitchen retreat for her Casa2G90 Pizza Oven. (She opts out of using it in the hottest part of the summer.) She loves the large interior oven space. Examples of her favorite things to cook in her Casa include: “Lots and lots of pizza, pita, chickens, steak, pork loin, overnight pots of beans, roasted potatoes and vegetables (we especially love mushrooms in a splash white wine, oil, and herbs), paella, sourdough bread, whole wheat breads, cookies, fruit crostatas, and shrimp!” Wow!

She says her passion started a long time ago. “I fell in love with wood fired ovens about 20 years ago when I did a study of sheepherder’s ovens in the National Forests. After a few years, I decided to go for it and build one at home. I have never looked back.” Expanding from humble beginnings of just the oven and a 10×10 metal roof, her outdoor kitchen has grown into a cooking and entertaining mecca for friends and family to enjoy. It boasts century-old, wood-framed windows in the two walls, a granite counter top with under storage cabinets, and a hose-fed sink, along with a beautiful sugar pine table and benches built by friends. Cindy says, “Nothing says fun like fire and food. Honestly.”

Cindy was even asked to be part of the annual local garden club tour. “Over 800 people came through over two days and we did mini-pita demos throughout. People were stunned by the oven and fascinated by the fire and how well it cooked. Lots of husbands were sent through by wives who wanted one for their own home. Men asked technical questions.  Roma110 – Tiled – Mockingbird Bar + Garden – East Dundee, IL

After a year of renovations and preparations, the Mockingbird Bar + Garden restaurant in East Dundee, IL is almost ready for their grand opening! They’ve held soft opening events for the neighborhood, completed a full training program with Chef Leo Spizzirri and the North American Pizza and Culinary Academy, and are having a blast cranking out pizza in their beautiful blue, customed-tiled, Roma wood and gas-fired pizza oven! The owner, Kathleen Bucci Bergeron, is focusing her menu and experience on providing: Artisan pizza, imaginative small plate items, delicious espresso, craft cocktails, and making an impact in the community one customer at a time! The restaurant is located right off of the Fox River Trail, a 44.6-mile rails-to-trails route that runs through the area. Primavera70 – Stucco – Duane and Nancy N. – Indianola, WA

Less than 5 years ago, Duane and Nancy N. invested in a Forno Bravo Primavera70 Wood Fired Pizza Oven. They love entertaining and spending time with friends. For fun, they decided to keep a journal of all of the pizzas they made in it (noting who, why, weather, and the number of pizzas.) Well, they are officially over 1,600 pizzas made to date! They held special “mile marker parties” for the 1,000th, 1,500th pizza and now the 1,600th pizza. And that was just in September — they’ve had all fall to keep going! (We suspect that Duane and Nancy may be our most prolific home pizza makers… or at least they are the best documented.) 🙂

We loved the story they shared with us about celebrating their 1,000th pizza. Duane relates, “We had a big party with guests drawing numbers for their time to make their pizza. We were the only ones to know the “lucky number pizza”. The suspense and fun of it all were fabulous! Pictures, cheering and the “honor” were special indeed. Someone even brought a 1,000th Pizza CAKE! We love our 70″ oven and the party atmosphere it creates. I can’t tell you the number of compliments on the Forno Bravo dough recipe, too. (We did a fundraiser for a student, and his mother is a chef. The father secretly told me he liked our dough better than his wife’s! Oops!) DIY Pompeii Oven/Modular Kits – Painted Stucco Enclosure – Bali Pizzeria– Villa Bali Eco Resort, Thailand

Jon Doty was born in California, but has lived in Thailand for 45 years now. He runs the Villa Bali Eco Resort on the southern coast of Thailand in Rayong. He wrote to share images of his fun, turtle-themed Pompeii Brick Oven with us. He relates, “I was looking for a pizza oven plan, and I found it on the Forno Bravo website. I built it in Thailand at our restaurant Bali Pizzeria, Now we are famous in the area for our pizzas! I have to thank Forno Bravo for your plans and recipes.”

Professionale100 TE – Mobile – Colorado Pizza Company – Elizabeth, CO

The Scott Family runs the Colorado Pizza Company using a Professionale100 TE oven and a Tailgate Trailer from Fire Within. They started their business towing the rig with a packed SUV and 10×10 tent, and have graduated to an RTD Lift Bus for a much more streamlined operation. They still fire their oven with oak and run it up to 900°F, and can really crank out the volume!

Recently, they were recognized as the #1 Food Truck in Parker, CO. Their primary service area is the smaller communities around Denver, CO (Elizabeth, Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Parker, Aurora, and Centennial.) Prior to running their own business, Tim spent 33 years as a television and film editor and director; his wife, Diane, worked in education and as a teacher.

This summer, we bumped into them at one of their many events. This one was the 2018 Pedal the Plains 3-day bicycle ride finish party in Kiowa, Colorado, where they were offering a delicious pizza option to 900 hungry riders. Their son Riley was doing the cooking, Diane was prepping, Tim was working the counter, and their longtime family friend was cutting and serving. (They also have two daughters who frequently work with the team as well.)

Tim took a few minutes to talk to us during a brief lull. He told me that they just started their third year in business. “In the first 2 years, we made over 12,500 pizzas! We’ve had zero problems with our oven.” They had a great experience with Fire Within where they purchased their oven and trailer and recommended them highly for those looking at a mobile pizza trailer. We’re excited to see the Scott’s business continue to grow!  Learn More About Our Mobile Ovens>>
