Salinas, CA, August 24, 2015 – Forno Bravo, a leading manufacturer of wood fired pizza ovens, based in Salinas, CA, has announced the Forno Bravo Expo 2015. The Expo, held on the grounds of Talbott Vineyards, is a celebration of pizza ovens, great food and a gathering of wood fired cooking enthusiasts.
WHAT: The Forno Bravo Expo features live cooking demonstrations and seminars with guest chefs, hands-on access to wood fired ovens, oven management tips, food sampling and wine tasting. Guest chefs include:
Peter Reinhart: Winner of four James Beard Awards for his books on bread and pizza. His TED Talk, “The Meaning of Bread” has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people, as has his two instructional video courses on Craftsy.com. Peter is the co-founder of PizzaQuest.com and serves as the site’s host for its video webisodes and for his popular Peter’s Blog posts. Peter is also a baking instructor at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC, where he lives with his wife Susan.
John Arena: John has worked in the pizza industry for 48 years. He is the co-founder of Metro Pizza in Las Vegas with seven locations. John teaches the nation’s only three-credit university level course on pizzeria history and concept development at the UNLV School of Hospitality.
Brigit Binns: Cookbook author, food blogger, and culinary instructor, Brigit lives and works in the wine country of Central California. She is lucky enough to have turned her passion for food and the outdoors into a career, authoring and co-authoring more than 30 cookbooks. Huffington Post named her blog, Road Foodie, one of the “Best Food and Drink Websites.” She and her husband, actor Casey Biggs (aka “Paso Wine Man”) own and manage Refugio Paso Robles, a culinary retreat/teaching kitchen/luxury vacation rental in the heart of the Central Coast wine region.
Nicky Giusto: Nicky Giusto is a fourth generation miller and baker who grew up in the world of bread. He currently works for The Central Milling Company developing bread programs and providing tech support for their customers, in addition to holding workshops for bakers of all levels. Nicky won Grand Prize in the Artisan Baking category at the 2013 America’s Best Raisin Bread Baking competition and is a current member of The Bread Bakers Guild Team USA.
Todd Fisher: over the last two decades Chef Todd has held several prestigious kitchen posts around the Monterey peninsula, orchestrated lively culinary collaborations, pioneered farm to table dining and traveled the country as the Celebrated Host of “The United States of Bacon” on Discovery Networks. Currently Head Chef of the Historic Monterey Landmark, Tarpy’s Roadhouse, he is also the host of the weekly show “All American Carnivore” on KRML radio and was recently voted “Monterey County’s Favorite Chef”.
Vito Romani: Vito Romani is owner and head chef of Stella’s Pizza Pie, a mobile wood-fired catering company based in Carlsbad, California. From a long line of Sicilians, Vito learned his craft organically as he grew up. After several years in the family casual dining business, he moved in a different direction as a rehabilitation counselor. In mid-2014, with a huge leap of faith, he ordered a mobile oven and launched his dream business. With his boundless energy and passion for food and family, Vito is growing his business into a local success.
Recipe preparation and cooking demonstrations will be conducted in Forno Bravo and Bella Outdoor Living wood fired ovens. The agenda includes cooking demonstrations of pizza and various other foods by guest chefs as well as seminars on dough making and bread baking.
