Chefs Honored as 2018 Top 25 Culinary Educators and Mentors by BAKE Magazine

While we have many contributors and wonderful chefs on our Chef’s Panel, Chef Leo Spizzirri and Peter Reinhart are have truly become a part of the Forno Family in a special way. We are so pleased and proud that BAKE Magazine has honored both of them in their annual “2018 Twentyfive” special edition – which recognizes top professional culinary educators and dedicator mentors in the United States. BAKE is a well-respected trade magazine focused on “Business, Accuracy, Knowledge, and Execution.” They wanted to highlight several chefs who are making a difference in training and inspiring the next generation in the field, where “innovation is paramount to success.”

Chef Leo is co-founder and head instructor at the North American Pizza and Culinary Academy He is also a world-pizza champion and member of the World Pizza Team. He has tremendous knowledge and talent and willingly shares it with food enthusiasts and chefs from all over the world! A native of Chicago, Chef Leo received his original Pizzaiolo certification from Chef Tony Gemignani at the International School of Pizza. He went on to receive his Maestro Instructore certification from the Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli in Italy under Chef Graziano Bertuzzo. He was subsequently invited to open only the second branch of the Scuola in the United States which launched in the Spring of 2018. His engaging style and creative use of doughs are marks of his flexibility and expertise.

Peter Reinhart is an American baker, educator, author, and 4-time James Beard Award winner for his innovative and exhaustive cookbooks on bread making. He is a sought-after speaker at conferences and an instructor at Johnson & Wales University. Peter also has a love for pizza and is the creator and host of Pizza Quest, sponsored by Forno Bravo; a site for interviews with industry leaders, blogs, recipes. and demonstrations on pizza with pizza makers around the country. The series has also been retooled and is now also available on myBluPrint.com, a sister company of Craftsy. It will help bring Peter and artisan pizza to an even larger audience of fans and home chefs.

Congratulations, gentlemen! They both do so much to share their love of cooking with others. It is great to see their hard work and generous spirits recognized!
