The Bay Area’s Very Own Dragon… Thank You Kylie.

Jun 16, 2017Posted by Forno Bravo

Everyone once in awhile we meet a Wood-Fired Community member whose imagination and determination are so unstoppable, it’s hard to believe what they can accomplish. Kylie Holland of A Girl and Her Dragon Pizza is one of those people.

Just over two years ago, Kylie became the youngest mobile pizza business owner in the country. Since then she has served thousands of pies and earned a reputation for her amazing service, professionalism and undeniably delicious pizza.

As Kylie gears up for her first year of college, we’re very proud to share a look back on how far she’s come. We hope it inspires you, and entrepreneurs around the world, to make your dreams come true!

The First Spark

In 2014, 14-year-old Kylie found herself tagging along with her parents on a visit to a brewery in Nantucket. Hoping for a lemonade at best, she was delighted to find something tastier awaiting her: a mobile pizza oven churning out bubbly, crisp wood-fired pizzas. A spark was lit in her mind…

Catching Flame

One year later, Kylie was pondering what to take on as a passion project for her school’s year-long independent studies program, Quest. That Nantucket afternoon spent watching pizzas come out of the oven sprung back to mind and she thought, why not give it a try?

She got to work right away on building her own mobile pizza enterprise, starting out by asking every pizza pro she could track down for their advice. Before long she found her way to Forno Bravo HQ where she got us hooked with her inspiring story.

A Girl on Fire

Fast forward a few months and Kylie was hard at work tweaking her business plan, testing recipes and making pizzas in her own Forno Bravo mobile pizza oven. She attended the Fire Within Mobile Pizza Conference where she learned the ins and outs of the industry, and officially launched A Girl and Her Dragon Pizza.

Kylie’s first big test came at Quest Night, where she would have to present her project to her classmates. She rose to the occasion with the help of some friends and family, and proved that her business really could be a hit. By the end of the night she had made 80 pizzas and won over a crowd of teenagers who were in awe of what she had done.

Fanning the Flames

Today, having overcome plenty of hurdles, Kylie’s business is thriving, and she has channeled her passion into many successful catering events. From birthday parties to weddings to corporate events, she has won over happy customers who can’t believe how well she has mastered the art of wood-fired pizza making.

We’re grateful to have been a part of Kylie’s journey, and we hope that her story inspires other entrepreneurs of all ages to make their dreams a reality.

If you’re in the Bay Area, don’t miss your chance to book A Girl and Her Dragon Pizza to cater your events this summer. Get in touch with Kylie to snag one of her last catering spots!

Congratulations, Kylie, from everyone at Forno Bravo.
