Pizza Talk: It’s All About Those Tomatoes, with Rob DiNapoii, part 2

The new crop of tomatoes are in the ground and, so, while they grow and ripen, it’s time to find out as much as we can about this beloved — and controversial — fruit.  Rob Dinapoli is our go-to guy in these matters. His family owned, multi-generational canned tomato products business is well known in the pizza and food service industry but less so by the general public. As an independent, relatively small operation that exists within a huge mega-category of more well-known consumer brands, has given Rob the flexibility to pivot and adapt to our changing times. In this two-part interview we’ll hear how this flexibility has allowed DiNapoli Tomato Products to thrive during the ever-growing artisan pizza era, including his partnership with pizza master Chris Bianco, to create an in-demand line of top-tier organic tomatoes. Rob is also the force behind the “These Hands” slogan, which has become a rallying cry in the artisan community. Learn about it all in Part 2 of our chat with Rob DiNapoli, our new “Tomato Yoda.”

Vision Statement

Pizza Quest is a site dedicated to the exploration of artisanship in all forms, wherever we find it, but especially through the literal and metaphorical image of pizza. As we share our own quest for the perfect pizza we invite all of you to join us and share your journeys too. We have discovered that you never know what engaging roads and side paths will reveal themselves on this quest, but we do know that there are many kindred spirits out there, passionate artisans, doing all sorts of amazing things. These are the stories we want to discover, and we invite you to jump on the proverbial bus and join us on this, our never ending pizza quest.
