The Blue Food Cookbook: Food that Comes from Water with Andrew Zimmern, Jennifer Bushman, and Bart Seaver
Welcome back to Pizza Quest!
Most of you know Andrew Zimmern from Bizarre Foods and his many other television series, and many of you also know Barton Seaver, one of the world’s leading educators on all things seafood, especially sustainable seafood. And some of you who have been around these sustainability issues for a while also know Jennifer Bushman, one of my favorite make-it-happen people who is currently the Executive Director of Fed By Blue, whose mission is to transform our food systems, preserve the oceans, nourish the world’s ever-growing population, and offset carbon emissions. She also produced and appeared, along with Andrew, in the three-part docu-series, “Hope in the Water.” She also played a major role in the production of Andrew and Barton’s beautiful new book, The Blue Food Cookbook. As I said, she is a make-it-happen rockstar.
This is an important episode of Pizza Quest, and the phrase “Hope in the Water” says it all, as we are in a crisis that is really a battle between life and death for this planet, and our best hope to survive the battle may very well be found in the planet’s waters (of all kinds). Listen in and you will see what I mean, as these three visionaries shine their light on the challenge and show us a way through. You will also learn more about seafood and other foods that comes from water (I’m talking about you, Mr. Kelp and other seaweeds) than you ever knew before. The clock is ticking and this conversation will show you how to be part of the solution instead of the problem.
