Pizza Talk: Scott Wiener, Our Man on the Streets, Part 1
Scott Wiener is probably the most connected person I know in the pizza community. He describes himself as a “serious pizza enthusiast,” but he is so much more. We’ve interviewed Scott here on Pizza Quest so, if you are among the few who don’t know who he is, use the search engine on our home page and put in his name. You will not only be led to the earlier interview but, also, to a number of guest columns that Scott has posted here on Pizza Quest. He knows more about the arcane history of pizza than, I think, anyone, and also has the largest collection of pizza boxes in the world (he’ll be sharing some of those in this interview and, also, every Saturday he’ll showcase a “Pizza Box of the Week” along with its backstory, right here on Pizza Quest and on our other social media outlets (an idea that emerged out of this Pizza Talk interview and which Scott immediately made happen).
In addition to all of this, Scott is the founder and operator of Scott’s Pizza Tours, which makes him one of New York City’s most important good will ambassadors and has endeared him to not only the tourists but to pizzeria operators throughout the city. Scott, along with pizzaiolo Marl Iacono (of the amazing Lucali Pizzeria in Brooklyn), hosts the popular Really Dough? series on Thrillest and Amazon Prime. He is also a regular contributor to Pizza Today magazine, where his Man on the Street articles are a popular feature. Here at Pizza Quest we are thrilled and proud to have Scott as our “Pizza Talk Man on the Street.” You’ll be seeing a lot more of him over the next few months, so check back every Saturday for another enjoyable Pizza Box of the Week post.
