From Cancer Diagnosis to Pizza Night And Son’s Marriage

“Two years ago my oldest son and girlfriend announced they were getting married in October 2024. They asked me if I would make my homemade pizza for their rehearsal dinner. I’ve been making pizza from scratch in my house oven for the past 7 years. Their request prompted me to build an outdoor oven to complement my outdoor kitchen.

After much research, I decided on purchasing the Forno Bravo Casa 90 modular kit and stand. After making the purchase in June of 2024 I was diagnosed with cancer with my surgery scheduled for September. Needless to say time was of the essence and I needed to complete the oven and learn how to cook in it  before my surgery. Without any prior experience, my two younger adult sons, two family friends, and I set out to build the oven.

We completed it and practiced cooking less than a week before my surgery. In October we had the rehearsal dinner and fed 34 people with 14 pizzas. Guests raved about the oven and pizza.

Every time I fire up the oven to cook, I think about the wonderful bonding experience I had with my two younger sons during construction of the Casa 90 and stand.”
