Leftover pizza doughball bread
Nov 30, 2011Posted by guestchefPrintI admit, the title of this bread is not so great, but I didn’t want to call it Italian Bread, or French bread. I’m afraid it isn’t authentic enough for those titles. Maybe Rustic Sandwich rolls?
Leftover pizza doughball bread
Ingredients
- leftover pizza dough – the basic recipe from the Forno Bravo forum is perfect! the basic recipe from the Forno Bravo forum
- Kosher Salt
- olive oil
Instructions
- After making enough pizzas to satisfy, take the extra dough balls and slightly flatten them, using your fingers to make indentations, barely stretching the ball. Brush with olive oil, sprinkle with kosher salt (lightly!). Slide them into the oven, keeping them closer to the front if it’s still very hot. Keep moving them around so they don’t burn and remove them once they’re light and hollow feeling.
Notes
These make the best rustic sandwich breads. Or you can slice them like small loaves of bread and use them for appetizers, or slice them into 2-4 large bread slices by slicing them from horizontally.
A great way to use up leftover dough, besides making more pizzas!
