Thought it was time to chime in and give my sincere appreciation to all of you who have added to this forum, which has bestowed upon me the benefits of your experiences, bad and good.
Also, a big thank you to Fornobravo.com for providing this web site and all the information that led me to this back breaking, blood, sweat and tears of a project. (jest).
In all seriousness, this project has been the most fulfilling outdoor endeavor that my wife, sons and I have ever engaged in together!
Thanks to you all, I was able to proceed in starting the Pompeii build with a level of confidence that I otherwise would not have had.
I quietly started the 42" Pompeii build in May (2012) and due to bad weather, it has taken a little longer than expected to reach this point. However, tomorrow (July 12, 2012) I will endeavor to begin building the dome.
What you won't see in the below pictures is the indispensable tool, made from an inline ball joint attached to the brick floor and a 3/8" dowel with a welded L bracket set at 21" on center.
