Title 19th Century Bread Peel
Description This blacksmith made bread peel was probably forged in the mid-19th century, though it could be older. It's on loan, permanent I hope , from a friend. The heart-shaped finial suggests it might have been made in Quebec, because it was a favorite motif there. The total length is 42 1/4 inches, and the blade is 8 inches high by 7 inches wide. The diminutive size means it was made for a small bake oven next to a large indoor cooking fireplace, and it shared the larger flue.
