Peter’s Blog, Interesting Link
Hi Everybody,
Our friend Daniel Young, author of the essential book Where to Eat Pizza, has a terrific newsletter that he sends out regularly with fun posts of his never ending search for pizza excellence. Here’s a link to his most recent post, about a guy from New Haven who went to Naples on his honeymoon to find out for himself whether his beloved New Haven pizza could stand up to the authentic Neapolitan classics at da Michaele and Pizzeria Brandi (birthplace of the Margherita). As you will see, the results are a very personal matter and speak to my long-held belief, which I wrote about in American Pie: My Search for the Perfect Pizza, that there are really two kinds of “perfect” pizza: paradigmatically perfect and contextually perfect (I’ll post more about this in the future; today it’s more about Dan Young’s book and post). http://www.youngandfoodish.com/new-havener-colin-caplan-tests-his-pizza-faith/
For more on Dan’s book, he gave us a great interview a few months ago, which you can find here: https://www.fornobravo.com/pizzaquest/interview-with-daniel-young/
Enjoy!!!
