Webisode: Pizza and Wine, Together at Last
This week we have a short “appetizer” of a webisode for you, featuring two guys who have already been featured in their own segments: pizzaiolo Vito Romani, of Pizzeria Stella, and master wine maker Dan Karlsen, of Talbott Vineyards. If you are new here on Pizza Quest you might want to go into our Webisode archive (see the button at the top of the home page) and check out the wonderful episodes we did with each of them.
In this segment, we grabbed Dan just as he was about to head home, and enticed him with one of Vito’s featured pizza, his version of a Hawaiian (pineapple and spicy salami, with a few rings of jalapeno pepper to buzz it up a bit). We wanted to see if we could get Dan to amplify some of the insights he gave us in the wine tasting segments by commenting on how the Talbott Chardonnay was affected by the pizza, and vice versa. It was short and sweet but we did get a great keeper of a soundbite from him when he said that what he learned by hanging around with all us pizza freaks, gathered there for the Forno Bravo Oven Expo is that, “Pizza people seem to be fun people.” Let’s keep it that way and, in the meantime, enjoy the banter and, vicariously, the wine and ‘za.
