New Webisode: Pinot Noir Master Class, part 2
We’re back with another installment of our master wine class with wine maker extraordinaire, Dan Karlsen of Talbott Vineyards. If you haven’t been following along scroll down the home page or head over to the Webisodes section and watch the previous segments in which we get to meet Dan and talk about food and wine pairing (and lots of tasting, of course). I have to say, in these simple, fun segments, anyone who has an interest in wine, but without a major wine-geek background, will be able to hold your own with the know-it-alls after watching these segments. Dan uses real basic and familiar imagery to impart his wisdom, which keeps everything fun and light, yet the pearls he shares are true nuggets of wisdom. For example, when I asked what differentiates the good version of their Pinot Noir from the really great version in the second bottle, his explanation, that it’s about the “length of finish,” is worth the price of admission right there. When he talks about wine making as being like raising children and “…you don’t know right off which one is going to go to Stanford,” again, a lot of wisdom in a short sound bite!
We’ll be back with more webisodes from the Forno Bravo Wood-Oven Expo in a few weeks but, in the meantime, enjoy Dan — I sure did!!
