Pizza Talk, Season Two, Episode 4: The Pizza Pilgrims — Living the Dream!
Welcome back to Pizza Talk!
In the fall of 2020 I had the joy of meeting with London-based Thom Elliot over Zoom. Thom is one of the two self-named Pizza Pilgrims, the other being his brother James (who also dropped in for a brief cameo). Their recently released book, Pizza: History, Recipes, Stories, People, Places, Love is their chronicle of a global journey in search of great pizza and how to make it, while driving around in a little Piaggio Ape 3-wheeler van, meeting with some of the greatest pizza makers on both sides of the pond, and, basically, living the Pizza Quest dream. When their pilgrimage ended they returned to London and opened their own mobile, and then, brick and mortar restaurant(s) and, finally, wrote all about it in this lively book.
No need to say much more, as Thom tells us all about it in this fun-filled conversation, and even gives us a tour of their showcase pizzeria in London, where they put everything they learned while on the road into practice. Kick back and take a vicarious trip with the Pizza Pilgrims as Thom Elliot takes us “on the van,” reliving with us the joys of going all in, as the brothers follow their passion.
