Pizza Expo 2019 and an Interview with Chef Leo

Chef Leo Spizzirri, Master Istruttore and Co-Founder of the North American Pizza and Culinary Academy, hosted several live cooking demonstrations in the Forno Bravo booth at the 2019 International Pizza Expo. This Expo hosts over 8,000 attendees and 500 vendors for three days of all things pizza! 

We caught up with him for an interview to talk about his experience this year. Combined with captured footage of his “International Pizza Party” that rocked the show and attracted a huge crowd, you’ll get a good flavor of the energy of the week (along with the 2018 acrobatic pizza tossing world champions who paid us a visit as well.) Chef Leo Spizzirri Creates a Sole nel Piatto (“Sun on the Plate”) Pizza

Sole nel Piatto is a sunny, specialty pizza well known in Italy, but Chef Leo put his own spin on it to produce a beautiful and fun treat for your restaurant or kitchen table! Chef Bart’s BBQ Ribs
Even at the pizza expo, we were looking for something to eat other than pizza sometimes. This excellent recipe for BBQ Ribs by Chef Bart hits the spot. You can whip them up ahead of time and toss them in the oven for a long, slow roast after your fire has gone out. Make them an evening snack, or melt in your mouth goodness for the next day!

Showing Off the 2019 Show Ovens


This year, the stars of the Forno Bravo booth were a dashing Napoli120 with a powerful new burner and the sleek new Viaggio100 Mobile Drop-in refractory pizza oven.

On one side of the booth, sporting a bold, custom tile design and a new, more powerful gas burner, the Napoli120 was a crowd favorite. It also performed magnificently in our cooking demos.

In our other corner, the new Viaggio Mobile Drop-in made its national debut at the show and generated lots of interest for possible residential, commercial, and mobile applications. It was the focus of many excited conversations and photos by the attendees!

Forno Bravo to Exhibit at the 2019 National Restaurant Association Show


In May, we’re taking our ovens on the road again. This time to the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago, IL. The show is celebrating its 100th edition this year, and they are really ramping up the lineup to celebrate their Centennial. Come visit us at Booth #264!

Wood Fired University Offered in Denver, CO, April 26 - 29, 2019


Fire Within, a professional concessionaire builder will be hosting the next session of their Wood Fired University mobile pizza business training course at the end of April.  Fire Within has been instructing Wood Fired University courses since 2009; this will be their 46th class to date!
