I thought that would be a great way to use the crab as close to it&#8217;s original form.\u00a0 But, what else do I love with crab?\u00a0 What other ways could I use the rest of my supply?\u00a0 That&#8217;s simple.\u00a0 Crab Dip!\u00a0 I love crab dip.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_751\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-751\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-751\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0240 - version 2.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"A warm baked crab dip just out of the oven is calling for a  cracker, or slice of baguette to swipe down and scoop it up.\" align=\"right\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0240%20-%20version%202.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0240%20-%20version%202-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-751\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A warm baked crab dip just out of the oven is calling for a  cracker, or slice of baguette to swipe down and scoop it up.<\/p><\/div>Crab Dip is already practically a pizza topping waiting to happen.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a warm cheesy topping that you spread on a cracker, or a slice of bread.\u00a0 What does Peter always call pizza?\u00a0 He says it&#8217;s basically &#8220;dough with something on it.&#8221;\u00a0 That pretty much brings your typical crab dip served up on a slice of a nice baguette into the realm of Pizza.\u00a0 Wouldn&#8217;t you agree?\u00a0 The simplified instructions would be:\u00a0 Place crab dip onto pizza crust.\u00a0 Cook.\u00a0 Eat.<\/p>\n<p>So, off I went to the internets, as I like to say. Let&#8217;s see what kind of Crab Dip recipes we can catch there.\u00a0 I browsed a few references for Crab Dip and Spicy Crab Dip until one jumped off the page from the Food Network.\u00a0 It was Emeril&#8217;s &#8220;Hot Jalape\u00f1o Crab Dip&#8221;.\u00a0 It looked Hot as in spicy and it had the word Jalape\u00f1os!\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t need to wander any more.\u00a0 I was hooked (or, netted to play the pun) as I read the ingredient list and surprised to see he didn&#8217;t call for just jalape\u00f1os, but pickled jalape\u00f1os!\u00a0 <div id=\"attachment_752\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-752\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-752\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0127.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"Mom's Pickled Jalapenos! If you haven&#8217;t made any yet you may have to get to it.<\/p><\/div>Well, who do we know who has his own pickled jalape\u00f1os sitting in the fridge that were made by none other than MOM herself!\u00a0 It was me. I had Mom&#8217;s Pickled Jalape\u00f1os, which is what I wanted to use anyway.\u00a0 Crab, Emeril and Pizza &#8211; how could that be a bad combination?\u00a0 This was going to be fun.<\/p>\n<p>You can go to Food Network, or simply google &#8220;Emeril&#8217;s Hot Jalape\u00f1o Crab Dip&#8221; to get his original recipe.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t create this, I just used it as the basis for my pizza.\u00a0 I will post the recipe here as I modified it for my use.\u00a0 For the original, please go directly to the master himself!\u00a0 <\/p>\n<h3>A Cracked Crab Dip Pizza<\/h3>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_743\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-743\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-743\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0211.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"A little Herb Oil goes great on the crust, or even as a drizzle after you bake a pizza. \" align=\"right\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0211.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0211-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-743\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A little Herb Oil goes great on the crust, or even as a drizzle after you bake a pizza.<\/p><\/div>&#8211; Peter&#8217;s Classic Pizza Dough *See archives for recipe<br \/>&#8211; Peter&#8217;s Herb Oil *See archives for recipe<br \/>&#8211; Emeril&#8217;s Hot Jalape\u00f1o Crab Dip *I did a modified version.\u00a0 Or, use your favorite crab dip.<br \/>&#8211; Monterey Jack and Mozzarella Cheese<br \/>&#8211; A little Cream Cheese <br \/>&#8211; A little grated Parmesan Cheese<br \/>&#8211; Arugula<br \/>&#8211; Limes for drizzling<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>My version of Emeril&#8217;s &#8220;Hot Jalape\u00f1o Crab Dip&#8221;<br \/><\/strong><\/em><br \/>I halved his recipe as a guide because I was making one pizza and had about 1\/2 the crab called for in his original recipe!\u00a0 The left overs were delicious as well the next few days!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 1\/2 pound Cracked crab, or packaged Lump Crab<br \/>&#8211; Chopped Garlic &#8211; about 1\/2 teaspoon<br \/>&#8211; Grated Monterey Jack, Mozzarella and Cream Cheese <br \/>&#8211; Chopped Mom&#8217;s Pickled Jalape\u00f1os<br \/>&#8211; 1\/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce<br \/>&#8211; 1 teaspoon of Hot Sauce &#8211; I used Frank&#8217;s Red Hot<br \/>&#8211; 1\/4 cup of Mayonnaise<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_753\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-753\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-753\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0232.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"This is really an easy pizza. Crab Dip and Dough.<\/p><\/div>Combine the Crabmeat, Garlic, Mom&#8217;s Jalape\u00f1os, Cheeses, Worcesterchire, Hot Sauce and Mayo in a mixing bowl.\u00a0 I added the 3 cheeses by eye &#8211; wanting this cheesy, but not too cheesy.\u00a0 For my version I added a little cream cheese to make it a little creamier. I did not add any salt at this point because I felt that my Mom&#8217;s SOY Pickled Jalape\u00f1os had enough and I like to finish the warm pizza with a little anyway.<\/p>\n<p>There is no need to pre-bake this.\u00a0 Just mix it and set it aside.\u00a0 Bake the rest of it after you are done making your pizzas for later.\u00a0 Again, check out Emeril&#8217;s original for the official version.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Crab Dip Pizza<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_754\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-754\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-754\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0234.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"In about 7 minutes this was ready to take out.  It was nicely browned.\" align=\"right\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0234.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0234-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-754\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">In about 7 minutes this was ready to take out.  It was nicely browned.<\/p><\/div>Pre-heat your oven to the highest temperature (about 550 degrees) for at least an hour prior to baking your pizzas to make sure your pizza stone comes up to temperature.<\/p>\n<p>Spread your dough out on the pizza peel and cover lightly with some of Peter&#8217;s versatile Herb Oil.<\/p>\n<p>Add the Crab Dip onto the pizza.\u00a0 Spread it out a bit.\u00a0 It will cook down and flatten out as it bakes.\u00a0 I sprinkled a little more cheese on top as well before baking.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it:\u00a0 Dough then Dip.\u00a0 Now it goes into the oven.\u00a0 My oven was now on Convection Bake at 525.\u00a0 This pizza went in at 12 after the hour and came out at 19.\u00a0 That&#8217;s 7 minutes.\u00a0 Pretty fast for a home oven.\u00a0 And, look at the bits of char I got.\u00a0 This was a nice bake for a home oven.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_755\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-755\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-755\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0242.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"The lime juice provides a nice citrusy contrast to the richer crab dip.\" align=\"right\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0242.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/01\/_mg_0242-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-755\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The lime juice provides a nice citrusy contrast to the richer crab dip.<\/p><\/div>Right when it comes out of the oven hit it with some fresh squeezed lime and don&#8217;t be shy about it.<\/p>\n<p>Top with some wild arugula and a little grated parmesan cheese to finish.<\/p>\n<p>Cut and Serve!<\/p>\n<p>This was rich and spicy!\u00a0 This is not a pizza you&#8217;ll sit down and eat by yourself.\u00a0 But, as an appetizer, or if you are sharing, it was really nice.\u00a0 Imagine taking your favorite crab dip and spreading it over a warm hot slice of an amazing bread that you just pulled out of the oven.
