how does that relate to a Margherita pizza that apparently doesn\u2019t exist?\u00a0 Well let me tell you.\u00a0 A friend sent me an great article that I knew I had to share here on Pizza Quest right away.\u00a0 What I didn\u2019t know until now was how much it would help me explain to you about a couple of pizzas I made recently.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1946\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_2017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1946\" class=\"wp-image-1946 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_2017-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Margherita Pizza w\/Fresnos\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1946\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Is this a Margherita Pizza?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>First, I highly advise that you go read this article.\u00a0 It\u2019s well worth it &#8212; pizza culture comedy at it\u2019s best!<\/p>\n<p>The article is called \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/magazine-33542392\" target=\"_blank\">The Day I ordered a pizza that &#8216;doesn&#8217;t exist&#8217;<\/a>\u00a0written by Dany Mitzman of Bologna, Italy for BBC News Magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Quote:<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Because last week I made the mistake of asking her for a marinara &#8211; which is a simple tomato and garlic pizza &#8211; with the addition of mozzarella.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><i>As soon as I say the words, Emanuela looks at me with disbelief and, in retrospect I realize, disgust.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><i>&#8220;You can&#8217;t have a marinara with mozzarella,&#8221; she says. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t exist.&#8221;<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Trust me, go read the article.\u00a0 I\u2019ll wait:<\/p>\n<p>OK, you\u2019re laughing, smiling, and thinking about it, right?!\u00a0 Great article!\u00a0 It reminded me of a time when Turkey Burgers were thought of as a type of burger not as an option instead of a burger.\u00a0 A place I loved to go to in Playa Del Rey, CA which has sadly closed, was called Outlaws.\u00a0 They had BIG burgers and they were all really good.\u00a0 The burger names were in theme with the rustic western-style pub\/burger joint:\u00a0 <i>The Outlaw, The Outlaw Gang, The Desperado, Annie Oakley, Al Capone, Belle Starr, Pancho Villa <\/i>etc.\u00a0 Great burgers!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1966\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_1983.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1966\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1966\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_1983-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Does this Fresno Chili belong here?\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_1983-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_1983-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_1983.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1966\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Does this Fresno Chili belong here?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I remember ordering one of my favorites, called the <i>Al Capone,<\/i> that had mozzarella (shocker, as it turns out), grilled peppers and onions, with sliced avocado.\u00a0 I had been enjoying this giant juicy burger here for some time and one day decided to order it as a turkey burger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan I have the Al Capone as a turkey burger?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The waitress pointed out that the turkey burger came with cheese, lettuce tomato etc.\u00a0 I looked at my menu and there it was down below all the cool Burgers &#8211; &#8211; I forgot to mention the <i>Jack the Ripper<\/i> that sported bacon, bleu cheese crumbles and the rest of the business.\u00a0 There it sat like it was a signature burger &#8211; <i>The Turkey Burger.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>I looked back up the menu at all the other burgers and then back up to the waitress and said, \u201cCan I get an <i>Al Capone,<\/i> but instead of using a beef patty, just use a turkey patty?\u201d\u00a0 I waited nervously for her answer looking over to my wife who probably thought I was being difficult.\u00a0 I could have taken the turkey burger and added mozzarella, grilled onions and peppers, but instead I thought it just made sense to ask for the burger I wanted &#8211; <i>The Al Capone<\/i>!\u00a0 <i>The Al Capone <\/i>is what brought me there.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t decide to go to Outlaws for nothing.\u00a0 I thought of the <i>Al Capone <\/i>and found myself at Outlaws later that day, or later that week.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t want a <i>Turkey Burger <\/i>with <i>Al Capone<\/i> stuff, I wanted <i>THE AL CAPONE<\/i> with turkey.\u00a0 Right?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1968\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_2019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1968\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1968\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_2019-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"It looks like a Margherita...\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_2019-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_2019-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/MG_2019.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1968\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It looks like a Margherita&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After a little back and forth and a second attempt to explain my outrageous request the waitress said she would go check with the chef about my off the menu order.\u00a0 Ok.\u00a0 I had a cold beer.\u00a0 I was fine with this.\u00a0 What could he say?\u00a0 Luckily, the chef agreed with me.\u00a0 It was just as easy to make the <i>Al Capone<\/i> with a turkey patty as it was with a beef patty.\u00a0 I ran into this same problem for a while when veggie burgers came out.\u00a0 They were always another sandwich on the menu instead of an option.\u00a0 Most people wouldn\u2019t be swapping out a beef burger with a veggie patty on a double bacon cheeseburger, but the veggie patty can be darn good and a great substitute for a meat patty &#8212; VPN &#8211; Neapolitan Dough with Caputo \u201c00\u201d Flour (or Central Mills &#8220;00&#8221; Flour)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Delicious Bianco DiNapoli hand crushed tomato sauce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/2011\/01\/07\/all-purpose-pizza-sauce\/\" target=\"_blank\">*Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
