I couldn&#8217;t resist popping a few of these into my mouth as I washed them.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I was working in New York City this summer and went on some great little pizza quests. \u00a0When I got home, I found that a group of volunteer cherry tomato plants were about ready to burst in my back yard. I decided that things had gotten out of control, as the plants were crawling across my patio and it was time to clean things up. First, I had to pluck all of this juicy fruit from the vines &#8212;\u00a0 it was quite a gift!\u00a0 The seeds for these these plants must have drifted over from the neighbors and didn&#8217;t get much help from me but, apparently, where they landed, in a little planter cut out of my patio, was a near perfect environment for them. \u00a0I can&#8217;t wait to replant, or watch these volunteers show up again.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1114\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1114\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-1114\" title=\"How's that for a group of volunteers?!  \" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/_mg_3768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/_mg_3768.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/_mg_3768-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1114\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">How&#8217;s that for a group of volunteers?!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>But what to do with all of these tomatoes? \u00a0Well, I would certainly make a salad. \u00a0What else could I possibly do?\u00a0 Ah, pizza time!<\/p>\n<p>When I decide to make pizza, I generally think of what I want to do and then often go wander around the grocery store to see if anything inspires me. \u00a0Just looking at these tomatoes, I realized that my inspiration for making pizza this day was right here in my backyard. \u00a0As you can see from the photos, my guest tomato plants gave up quite a bit of gorgeous fruit.<\/p>\n<p>I decided that my first pizza of the day would be totally about the tomatoes. \u00a0In fact, it was going to be a tomato pizza &#8212; with no meat products! It&#8217;s da best toppa!<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>The Prep:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make the Herb Oil ahead of time &#8211; link to recipe above<\/p>\n<p>Drizzle a little of the Herb Oil onto your green onions and throw them on the grill. \u00a0Once they are softened and a little charred pull them off. \u00a0Let them cool a little and chop them up and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1117\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1117\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-1117\" title=\"My home oven somehow charred some of the tops of the tomatoes. They are little domes of flavor.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Pizza:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preheat your oven to the highest temperature, about 550 degrees if possible, for at least an hour prior to cooking to make sure to get your pizza stone up to temperature.<\/p>\n<p>Stretch out your dough and drizzle a little of the Herb Oil over the top.<\/p>\n<p>Place the cherry tomatoes around the dough &#8211; mostly cut side down. \u00a0I feel like they steam and hold more of their moisture this way. \u00a0Some will roll over when you slide it in the oven, and as you can see, I also threw a few on that sit cut side up as well. \u00a0This is not science!<\/p>\n<p>Tear up pieces of the cheese and place them around the pizza. \u00a0Try to imagine how the cheese will melt and blend together with the other ingredients to gauge how much and where you want to place the pieces.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1118\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1118\" class=\"caption alignright size-full wp-image-1118\" title=\"There is a real nice balance of flavors here.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/_mg_4004.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/_mg_4004.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.fornobravo.com\/pizzaquest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/_mg_4004-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1118\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">There is a real nice balance of flavors here.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Time for some heat, so, into the oven\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>My oven was as hot as it could get. \u00a0You can see the charred tomatoes. \u00a0This pizza looked good going in but, hey, it looks good right out of the oven too.<\/p>\n<p>Add the shredded Parmesan, to taste.<\/p>\n<p>Drizzle with a little balsamic vinegar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This pizza looks good enough to eat cold. \u00a0It was a great way to celebrate the gift of my fresh tomatoes, this inadvertent gift from my neighbors.\u00a0 The sweet bursts of flavor from the tomatoes, along with the more earthy onions and amazingly creamy burrata cheese really hit the spot. \u00a0This pizza was balanced, fresh, and delicious! \u00a0And, then, as a topper, you also get that sweet twang from the balsamic vinegar, which perfectly ties all the flavors together &#8212; Delish!!<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was working in New York City this summer and went on some great little pizza quests. \u00a0When I got home, I found that a group of volunteer cherry tomato plants were about ready to burst in my back yard.
