New Pizza App Campaign
Peter Reinhart

There is a new app in development that will help any traveler track down the best artisan pizzerias wherever they go, at least in the USA (for now -- maybe they'll cover the whole world if it succeeds). The developers have just launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise the funds they need to complete the project. They have figured out a method to limit the recommendations to only highly rated pizzerias, artisan quality, so I hope they succeed.  Here's the link to the campaign and I hope our viewership can help them succeed: www.indiegogo.com/projects/iphone-app-that-locates-the-best-pizza-places-in-america. We'll let you know, as we hear more, as to when the app will launch and how to get it.

Special Holiday Discount
Peter Reinhart

Hi All,

Just a quick announcement.  I just heard from Craftsy that they are running a Memorial Weekend Sale and will be donating a portion from each sale to various veterans groups.  Some of the courses are as much as 60% off.  To check out their courses go to: http://www.craftsy.com/ext/PeterReinhart_holiday

This sale ends at midnight Monday.  BTW, the free Mini-Pizza Course now has over 37,000 people enrolled -- I'm blown away!!  Thanks for all your support.

We'll be back soon with new postings, recipes, and webisodes.  In the meantime, Happy Memorial Day!!

Special Weekend Only Offer
Peter Reinhart

Hi Everybody,

A quick announcement: I mentioned in my previous posting that Craftsy.com will be creating a free pizza mini-course with me soon (as a follow-up to my longer artisan breads course, which has just passed the 2,500 mark in sign-ups), but I just learned that they are also running a special holiday sale through Monday night (midnight), Nov. 26th. Not only is my course on sale but every course in their catalog is going for $19.95 this weekend.  This includes their cooking courses but also their many crafts course, for which they were originally known. If interested, check them out out:

http://www.craftsy.com/ext/PeterReinhart_holiday

It is only through this link, not their regular website link, that you will gt the holiday price. While you're on their site, check out the Artisan Cheese Making Course by my friend Mary Karlin, as well as the Chocolate Desserts course by another friend of mine, Alice Medrich. Anyway, it's a really cool site and I hope to continue making instructional videos with them -- they've really figured out how to deliver video streaming classes into your home and I like their business model.

I'll be back in a few days with more postings. Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Next Peter's Blog coming in a few days
Peter Reinhart

Hi Everyone,

Tonight at midnight is the celebration of Eastern Orthodox Easter (Pascha -- yes, it's one week later this year than the Western Easter, as they only fall on the same dates about once every 4 years) so I don't have my Part 2 of last week's blog ready yet. I'll be working on it in a couple of days and get it posted as soon as I can. As always, we keep adding new postings every week and will continue to do so, so keep checking in. I'll be back soon....

News Update
Peter Reinhart

Hi Everyone,

A quick update to let you know that the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) opened voting today to the general public to vote for your favorite food blog as well as cook book and a couple of other categories. We'd love your vote -- Pizza Quest is already a nominee in the judges category but the People's Choice Award would be even more meaningful. So please pass the word to your friends and I'll report on the results when I get back from the IACP Conference and Awards on April 3rd.

To vote, click here: www.iacp.com.  Then, just follow the prompts. Everyone only gets one vote and you don't have to be a member of IACP to vote.

(BTW, if you are a culinary professional, this is an amazing organization and the annual conference is one of major highlights of the year (at least for me)-- probably the single best networking group I've ever been associated with.  If you're trying to grow your own culinary career, regardless of the category, you might want to consider exploring their website to see if it's right for you.)

Anyway, don't forget to vote -- think the voting closes on March 29th -- and my heartfelt thanks for all your ongoing support!

Sincerely,

Peter

This Week on Pizza Quest
Peter Reinhart

Usually, I post a new Peter's Blog on Tuesdays but this week we received such a great Guest Column from our friend and frequent contributor, John Arena, that I wanted to post it ASAP, so I'm switching places with him (see below) and I'll be back at the end of the week with my regular Peter's Blog. In addition, Brad is currently in NYC on a filming project and is going to try to retrace some of the suggestions that you'll read about in John's Guest Column. Hopefully, when he gets back home (he lives in Southern California), he'll fill us in about how it went and who he met on his mini-quest, and share his adventure.

I've been asked when we'll be posting new videos and all I can say is that we're working on it. It's more a technical challenge, getting the many hours of footage organized and edited. Sorry that it's taking so long but eventually well get it posted for you. In the meantime, we'll keep things rolling with our ongoing features and commentary, so keep checking back. As you know, there's always something new on Pizza Quest.

Vision Statement

Pizza Quest is a site dedicated to the exploration of artisanship in all forms, wherever we find it, but especially through the literal and metaphorical image of pizza. As we share our own quest for the perfect pizza we invite all of you to join us and share your journeys too. We have discovered that you never know what engaging roads and side paths will reveal themselves on this quest, but we do know that there are many kindred spirits out there, passionate artisans, doing all sorts of amazing things. These are the stories we want to discover, and we invite you to jump on the proverbial bus and join us on this, our never ending pizza quest.
