News Update
Peter Reinhart

Hi Everyone,

A quick update to let you know that the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) opened voting today to the general public to vote for your favorite food blog as well as cook book and a couple of other categories. We'd love your vote -- Pizza Quest is already a nominee in the judges category but the People's Choice Award would be even more meaningful. So please pass the word to your friends and I'll report on the results when I get back from the IACP Conference and Awards on April 3rd.

To vote, click here: www.iacp.com.  Then, just follow the prompts. Everyone only gets one vote and you don't have to be a member of IACP to vote.

(BTW, if you are a culinary professional, this is an amazing organization and the annual conference is one of major highlights of the year (at least for me)-- probably the single best networking group I've ever been associated with.  If you're trying to grow your own culinary career, regardless of the category, you might want to consider exploring their website to see if it's right for you.)

Anyway, don't forget to vote -- think the voting closes on March 29th -- and my heartfelt thanks for all your ongoing support!

Sincerely,

Peter

Usually, I post a new Peter's Blog on Tuesdays but this week we received such a great Guest Column from our friend and frequent contributor, John Arena, that I wanted to post it ASAP, so I'm switching places with him (see below) and I'll be back at the end of the week with my regular Peter's Blog. In addition, Brad is currently in NYC on a filming project and is going to try to retrace some of the suggestions that you'll read about in John's Guest Column. Hopefully, when he gets back home (he lives in Southern California), he'll fill us in about how it went and who he met on his mini-quest, and share his adventure.

I've been asked when we'll be posting new videos and all I can say is that we're working on it. It's more a technical challenge, getting the many hours of footage organized and edited. Sorry that it's taking so long but eventually well get it posted for you. In the meantime, we'll keep things rolling with our ongoing features and commentary, so keep checking back. As you know, there's always something new on Pizza Quest.

This Week on Pizza Quest

We're taking a Thanksgiving break this week, questing for the perfect turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.  I will, however, be doing some test baking this week with sprouted wheat flour crusts for the new pizza cafe project we're opening here in Charlotte soon, so it won't be a totally pizza free week. More on that in upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, this would be a great time for newcomers to the site to look back over the great archive of webisodes, guest columns, recipes, and instructional videos in each of the sections.  We'll be back with all new content next week as we approach (hard to believe) our first anniversary next month. We're still editing all the footage we've been teasing you with these past few months -- the pizza-beer challenge (Birra Basta), the tomato harvest, Peppe Miele at Antica Pizzeria, and much more.  Lots to come but, for now, all of us at Pizza Quest wish you a joyous Thanksgiving and we give you our heartfelt thanks for joining us on the quest. May your pizzas (and turkeys) all be perfect!

Coming Attractions, Week of October 17th
Peter Reinhart

Things get back to normal this week now that we've reported on our whirlwind trip to Denver and are settling back in. Our usual schedule is:

Tuesday: Peter's Blog

Wednesday: Instructional or Recipes

Thursday: Webisode or other videos

Friday: Guest Column

We don't always have something every week for each of these sections, and we're putting together our content now for this week, so keep checking back to see what's new (as we so often say, there's always something new on Pizza Quest). I'll be back on Tuesday with a new Peter's Blog and will fill in the rest of the Coming Attractions then. See you Tuesday!!

Recap of Denver coming Tuesday
Peter Reinhart

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from Denver, where we did, indeed, film the "Big Reveal" with Kelly Whitaker and Alan Henken (Pizzeria Basta), and Patrick Rue (The Bruery). It was a smashing success (yes, pun intended)!

If you are just joining us for the first time, read about everything leading up to the climactic event in my previous Peter's Blogs of the past few weeks.  I know I promised to blog live from the event and I did try, but for some reason my IPad wouldn't let me add copy to our site, so I had to wait till I got to my home computer (it might have been more me and my lack of skills than the IPad -- not sure).  So, now that I'm home and have a chance to do it right, I've started writing up our adventure and will begin posting on Tuesday, Oct. 4th as my regular Peter's Blog. We'll be focusing on the Denver recap all week long. Next week we'll return to the Tony Gemignani webisode series and our usual array of never ending posts, recipes, and guest columns.

So, more on our Quest to Denver, which included some unexpected and delightful bonus adventures, beginning on Tuesday and continuing throughout the week....
