Overview
Your Outdoor Fireplace is comprised of a number of basic components, which we will define here to give you a better understanding of the installation process. Click through to see directions for each step of the installation process.

The Foundation
Your outdoor fireplace rests on a traditional reinforced concrete slab. It can be a stand alone slab build specifically to support your fireplace, or it can be poured to accommodate other outdoor kitchen items, such as a Pizza Oven, outdoor kitchen cabinets, grills, sinks, and refrigerators. Your outdoor kitchen can, and possibly will, evolve over time.
The Stand and Base
Your outdoor fireplace is assembled on an insulating hearth and optional concrete block stand. The fireplace floor should be set to a height where you can easily see the fire, while still meeting your design requirements, including the hearth, mantel, enclosure and wood storage.
The Forno Bravo Calore outdoor fireplace kit includes a sophisticated fireplace base that is designed to stop heat from migrating downward. It is constructed using a sophisticated insulating refractory material, and has a complex pattern of air channels, designed to move hot air out the front of the fireplace, where you want it; not down through the floor. The Calore fireplace actually breathes.
The Firebox
Your Calore outdoor fireplace provides an elegant firebox, constructed from state-of-the-art refractory material that efficiently stores and releases the heat of your fire. It is shaped to reflect heat into your outdoor living space, not up the chimney. The firebox is delivered in 3-5 pieces, which can be easily assembled.
The Fireplace Vent
Much lie the Calore fireplace base, the vent is also constructed from a high-tech insulating refractory. It is well-shaped to provide a smooth draw and airflow, and to minimize smoke escaping through the front of the fireplace. Where other designs are based on more simple square corners and angles, the Calore fireplace provides an elegant single-piece vent that is easily assembled.
Chimney
The top of the Calore vent is connected to a modular chimney system. Take care to attach a spark arrestor a the top of the chimney, and be sure to check you local building code prior to installation. We recommend the Simpson DuraVent UL103 chimney system, and you can find it in the Forno Bravo Store.
Outdoor Fireplace Enclosure
There are virtually unlimited outdoor fireplace designs, including the traditional dominant chimney, the curved fireplace chimney, wall fireplaces, corner fireplaces, and freestanding fireplaces.
Finish materials typically include stucco, brick, stone, marble, travertine and granite. Take care to ensure that your enclosure is waterproof, in order to keep water from soaking through to firebox.
