Default Pizza Oven on top of a wood burning chimney

Has anybody constructed a functioning wood burning chimney with a pizza oven on top?

Do you mean a fireplace which converts into a pizza oven? I'm building one now.

I've seen one on a rumford fireplace website, but they were side by side (below). Do the layout as you'll have to work out spacings and chimney paths. Front chimney exit for oven and rear for fireplace.

It's best if the fireplace has a separate chimney from the oven, and a necessity if you're following building code. You may also consider having the fireplace facing a different direction from the pizza oven if you're planning to use them both at once: You don't want to roast your feet while you're cooking. One way is to have the oven unit at an angle, with the fireplace facing the seating area, and the oven opening off 90 degrees to face the cooking area.

Here's the link to the rumford.com page mentioned above:

and more ovens from the same site:

And of course don't neglect the FB picture galleries:

It can be done, but one of the tricky parts is working out where to run the fireplace chimney. Fireplaces are shallow and pizza ovens are deep, so that if you run the fireplace chimney behind the pizza oven, you end up with a deep fireplace and a really small oven.

I think Dmun's idea is interested.

Good luck with your project!
James
