Default Chimney Size

Looking for a liitle advice. Almost done building a 38" pompei and started to look at my chimney options. I have settled on the DuraTech Stainless. The pompei plans call for a 6" diameter chimney for a 36" oven and a 8" diameter chimney for a 42" oven. I have found the Duratech Chimney in 6", 7", and 8" inch diameters locally. Should I go for the 7" because I am slightly bigger than 36"? Do I go bigger with an 8" or just stick with the 6"?

Default Re: Chimney Size

I put an 8" on my 36" with no regrets. Draws very nicely. Theoretically, a chimney can be too big for an oven (I guess the problem is generating enough heat to sufficiently warm the chimney to create draw), but I think the Pompeii prescription is well within the margin, leaving some room for upward bias.

kebwi,

Thanks for the quick response. I was leaning towards the 7" diameter.
