| I saw this type of design in a couple of e-bay auctions. The most recent I saw was ebay item number: 270143141801. The chimney comes straight out of the top of the dome. This seems to defy all that I have read about brick oven design. Wouldn't most of the heat escape before the heat can soak the bricks? Do you suppose this is intended to be a decorative oven (fireplace) or a real baking oven? |

| Looks alot like this oven http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f25/...light=empanada (EMPANADAS - Argentine Style) and his personal page here Argentinean Campo Oven - A Masterpiece Seems to be a South American design. Drake |

| I get to be the one word answer man: Quote:
We had a builder here who's father built a central flue oven, it just ate through the wood pile, and never really got hot enough. |

| Um, does it have a damper? Okay, opening it when the time came would be a bear...

| I went back to the website and looked again. It appears that the chimney comes out the side at a height that looks close the the magic 60% height relative to the dome.... Did not see that before. Christo

| Maybe you are right about that, Christo. I saw one a few weeks ago that had the chimney EXACTLY out the top and thought this one looked "too close" to the top of the dome. It is interesting that it is just as depicted in the Argentine oven/empanada post (which still has my mouth watering). This was an interesting auction to watch - it closed with a $1750 top bid but did not sell because it was below the reserve... only to be re-listed and sold at $1500 Buy-it-now. Hmmm. |
