Default chimney

does fire come out of the chimney when fireing the oven? i have a roof from palm leaves so would be good to know...

Well, that would depend on how tall your chimney is, but usually no flames come out... what does come out though is very hot air and maybe some sparks, so a palm leaf roof sounds like a major accident waiting to happen.

What you need to do is make a taller chimney that goes through the roof and above it, with a really good layer of insulation where the roof and chimney meet.

Our building code (with almost always non-combustible roofing materials) calls for a chimney two feet above anything within ten feet. We also have elaborate requirements for clearance to combustibles (two inches from the exterior of the chimney, even thought the exterior of most chimney systems remain cool to the touch.) You are going to want a super spark arrestor on the top of that chimney at the very least.
