| While curing my oven I have gotten a crack that is large enough that if you look very closely through you can see the flames on the inside. I should I attempt to back fill with extremly wet mortar, before moving forward?? |

| I think you should, but lets see what others have done. If you stuff mortar in it from the outside, then maybe make it a bit thicker over it from the outside, it will fill it but it will crack again, however, it will be a hairline crack that wont matter. We all (mostly) get hairline cracks but once you cover with insulation, it has no effect on your oven working any differently than if it never cracked. Once you put your insulation blanket on or perlcrete (or whatever) smoke or heat doesn't escape. You will just be reminded of it every time you get to pizza temps and your dome "clears" and you see the crack from the inside (like I am, with mine )Others have used gasket cement to good success for their cracks too. Good luck, Dino

| Thanks for the quick reply. The gasket cement would be a good idea a little more flexible. |
