Default Rough count of Firebricks for 42" oven

I'm assuming that being such a common size to build there is a pretty good idea of how many firebricks are necessary to complete a 42" dome. I am in planning phase, and thought I should check here before ordering.. I tend to buy overboard because I use them for the next project, but a rough idea would be good.

Thanks MAtthew

Download the FB plans, they are free and have been used enough to have a pretty refined count.

About 200. Depends on if you taper them.

You could also try deejayoh's calculator, which will take tapering into account: http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f28/...tor-18131.html (Dome spreadsheet calculator), which will give you a rough count of the needed bricks. Add a couple dozen more bricks on top of what the calculator says so that you have enough for your entry and vent. I used nearly 200 full bricks for my 36" oven (including the floor and vent), but I tapered my arch and dome bricks.

210 and counting on my 36". I think I'll need maybe 10 more before I'm done, but I have a good many scraps lying around.
