| I would like confirmation of the need to put a mortar base under the floor firebrick when placed on ceramic board? |

| Hay TLS If your placing your floor on ceramic board I would not use a mortar base under your firebricks instead I would use a sand and fireclay mix. You will find that your firebricks are not an absolute in dimension so if you laid them out on a flat surface you will find a bit of a ridge in certain places from one brick to the next. The purpose of the fireclay sand mix is to act like a leveling agent for the bricks. This way as you remove things from the oven your peal wont be catching brick edges. If you have ever laid floor tiles you do it in the same way using a notched trowel. Hope that helps, we would love to see some pictures. Faith |
