| So today before i went to work i noticed a crack on the outside of the dome that runs all the way around one entire course of bricks. Its about the level of the top of the vent. I am not sure what to think of it, should i just support it and continue with the dome? I noticed that some people put a mortar covering over everything. my mortar is simply over the joints. should i have covered the entire brick on the outside. There truely is no worse feeling that noticing the crack.... |

| How wide is the crack ? If it is not so wide as to indicate that the bricks might fall out, I would simply patch it and carry on. Cracks in these types of masonry domes are common and to be expected. |
