How many bags of Refmix for a 36" high dome oven?
Im putting together a list of things to do/order for my upcomming oven and I was wondering, how much REFMIX to order from FB?
Re: How many bags of Refmix for a 36" high dome oven?
It depends on the mason. I am a total amateur, the first time I put mortar on a brick was for this oven. It also depends on how you are cutting the bricks. I am cutting mine in half, no fancy angles for me. That being said, I have used three bags to get to where I am (about five dome courses to go). I anticipate using a fourth by the time it is finished. These are 50 pound bags of Firestop 50. Sometimes it seems like there is almost as much mortar as brick.
