Hi All, I'm about to start insulating my dome and was wondering what mix of cement/vermiculite experienced builders would recommend. I seem to remember 1:11 or 1: 12 ratios at some stage but would just like to confirm. Thanks, Cheerio, Mark

Do a search on the forum and you'll get all the info you want. Basically the more cement you use the stronger the mix will be, but the less insulating it will become. It is all a matter of the density of the resultant mixture.

Thanks david, I did a small trial mix of about 1:12 last night (Australian time!)and by this morning to was pretty firm. I think the 1:11-1:12 ratios should be fine as there is no requirement for strength in this layer. I also take your point about more cement = less insulation. Thanks, Mark
