Default do I need a thermo blanket?

I've completed the dome of my oven and ready to insulate it. In the plans for the oven it says to use 4-6 inches of vermiculite concrete, while others on the forum seem to be using thermo blankets with the vermiculite.

Is it ok the use just the vermiculite concrete?

I, too, used the blankeys. Got 'em from our beloved forno bravo store for a very reasonable price. I bought two rolls. Covered the dome three to four times. In Sacramento, vermiculite is @ $21 a bag. The blanket insulates better and costs about the same. I can retain enough heat to cook two days later.

BUT if you can't get hold of or afford the blanket, Vermiculite will also do a good job.
