Default Curing oven

Should I cure my 42 inch Pompeii before I install insulation or after I have read of people doing it both ways?

Like you said people go either way. But what type of insulation you installing? Igloo or enclosure? Cladding? Lots of variables. I cured without insulation but your case could be different.

I am using ceramic fibre insulation and plan an igloo style finish. The oven is under a roof so I'm not worried about rain.

My plans are just like yours. I plan on curing and having it full blast before i put the insulation, because i can see how the oven performs, if it cracks, or i should say how much it cracks etc.

One thing that was suggested when I cured was to loosely cover the dome with the CF while curing to help equalize the the temperature from the inside to the outside. I did not out of forgetfulness but not a bad idea and nothing to loose.

Thanks again for the quick response. On another note I have several lengths of black stove pipe from an old wood stove could I use this for my chimney?

I'll defer that question to others who used single wall pipe. I used Selkirt double wall SS pipe.

I'm either going to use a single walled pipe or no pipe, just vent it out with a red brick chimney. I am not paying $$$$ for a double walled pipe. Thats just me.
