Default Help with oven vent installation

Hi,

Silly question....we are installing the oven vent and chimney manifold. The directions say to install the oven vent flush with the front of the dome. If we do this, there is a huge gap that needs to be filled with mortor. Is this correct? Do you have close up photos that I can see? The way we just undid was to install the oven vent jutting out about 4 inches. Which is right? Is there a wrong and right way?

Also when installing the chimney manifold, there is a D shape opening, which way is front?

thx!

If you are talking about the venting/manifold for a FB Casa series, here is what I did.
