Default Expansion gap in dome

Is a 1/4 inch gap in the front part pf the dome acceptable for heat expansion.

Dome made up of four pieces, sort of tounge and grooved with a good seal where the pieces meet, but front edge has a 1/4 inch gap. Mason said this was OK and was needed for heat expansion.

Should I be worried?

You'll be fine. The general rule with the precast domes (make sure that you all buy from Forno Bravo ) is that you put a 2" thick band of refractory mortar outside of the dome seams, not inside it. That keeps your heat, air and smoke inside the oven, and allows the dome pieces to expand and contract without pushing on each other or the mortar.
