Default Soldier course placement

This may sound stupid but the soldier course is a full brick, right?
I changed my mind for the 50th time and went ahead and cut all my floor pieces so now I am committed to the soldier course standing around the floor rather than on top. All the pictures look as though with this type of build, I use full size bricks. Just making sure before starting.
The mixture in the wet saw tray after cutting the bricks was so hard I had to use a putty knife to scrape it out. Thought about saving it but didn't.
I have 300 halves and the floor cuts all ready to go.
Now if it would only stop raining. Maybe I should build an ark instead.
