| Volcanic pumice can work - It's what the Romans used - But you need considerable more of it than vermiculite or perlite. Besides, what's natural? I once saw a bumper sticker that said, "If it didn't come from a farm, it came from a mine" Or, are we working around to the old "Can I use sand/gravel/glass for my insulation" question?
