Default cutting soldier course

I am about to start on the actual oven, I am building a 42" pompeii. I am planning on placing my soldier course using bricks standing upright around the perimeter of the hearth. What angle is recommended for cutting the top of the soldiers.
Thanks for any suggestions
Eric
