| All, Hello. I have a question about using castable refractory cement. I am trying to cast a base for a small homemade oven. I was planning on putting some 1/2" hardware cloth in as a re-inforcement. The base will be 1" thick. Is it OK to use the hardware cloth? Or, will the rapid and extreme temperature swings with expanding metal crack the concrete? I am using "Rutland Castable Refractory Cement" for this project. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joseph |

| The standard reinforcing for castable refractory is stainless steel needles (melt extract fibres) you may be able to use something else, but remember that heat accelerates corrosion. |
