In all the pics it looks as though some build the inner arch first and some build the dome just short of the inner arch first. I was thinking of building the inner arch so I can start with a good fit of the dome against the arch rather than trying to cut and fit the transition bricks later. What works the best?

Neither. Whichever works best for you.

Thanks, I am going with the arch first then. Will post some pics as soon as I get started.

I make my inner arc first, it is harder for you to cut the dome to fit the arc if you make the dome first.
