| I am working on the layout of the oven.. On the walls do you usually lay the firebrick tight together or space then and lay with refractory mortar? I have attached a picture of the dry layout that i have came up with, just curious on the spacing of the walls. Any input would be appreciative..thanks

| Well i think that i am going to put a small joint of mortar in between and on the bottom, think that it will keep the sides and top more even

| Is it a full barrel vault or a flattened one?

| well it will have a rounded arch...kinda like the one in Alan Scott's Book. Pretty much the same layout as he uses for the oven 36 deep by 32 wide and a 16" door

| Um, why is the door on the end? I've never seen a barrel oven (brick) done that way.

| The ovens I've seen had the door along the long side. Forgive my lack of Sketch Up skills, but the picture probably explains it better.
