| Why not pour a concrete slab, Im not sure if those retaining wall sleepers will be strong enough laid flat? The furring channel will act as a wick and draw the heat out of the oven base, glass woll wont be anywhere as good as a calcium silicate board.

| Hi Mark, IMO I think you would be better to just pour a slab about 100 to 125mm then put your insulation on top. The guy you mentioned that used two layers of sleepers how did he tie them together and how did he secure the blocks from moving? If you pour a slab you can corefill the blocks at the same time which will tie the whole thing together and will give you a solid and level platform to build your oven on. Mark these things are probably a bit over engineered, but keep it simple follow the tried and tested ways and get cooking thats the best part. Good Luck
