Default Ash slot size????

Hi,again!
Going thru the pics of pompeii ovens I noticed that many builders
decided not to bother leaving space for an ash slot , or perhaps I
have been missing it. Can someone tell me if there is a standard
size and please throw in some measurements.
Arigato.

Hello Masako, the ones I have seen were 12" x 2" at the top and taper down to 10" x 2" at the bottom. If you make your form to taper like this then it is much easier to pop it out of the concrete slab once it has hardened.

Masako,

A lot of us are not bothering with the slot. The oven is very easy to clean (with or without it).
