| I'm building the hearth stand as per the instructions for a Pompeii. I cannot find 3/8" 2x2 angle iron long enough to span the opening? The local home depot and Lowes have 1/8". There are 3/36", but only 48 inches long. Is the 1/8 inch thick enough if I put extra rebar in supporting hearth?

| Hey Mike, I had the same problem! Here's the thread I started on the topic; you might find some good ideas in there: Link (Gauge of lintels in block stand?) I found some at the salvage yard, but maybe a local welder or metal fabricator would sell you some?

| I think I got mine from the local brick yard. I think I had to get 1/2 instead of 3/8 but it works. |
