| I read in another post that when insulating the dome, they used aluminum foil, shiny side towards the fire. I am pouring my vermicrete bottom slab today and wondering if it would hurt to put a couple layers of heavy gauge aluminum foil on top of the slab facing up under the vermicrete ?? questions ? suggestions ? leave it alone ? Thanks Mark TOGNJ |

| Aluminum reacts to the caustic cement, and at the very least will loose it's shininess, if not rot out entirely. I think the consensus is that the only use for foil is to establish a slip-plane between two elements you don't want sticking together.
