| A quick FYI for those in central SC looking for materials... Woodley's Garden Center on Two Notch Rd in Columbia has 4 cu/ft bags of medium and coarse vermiculite for $24.95 each as of today. Might want to call ahead to ask about availability as I got the impression they only keep 4-6 bags on hand at any time... (I bought 6 yesterday and only two were left.) Boral Brick on US1 at I-20 has medium duty firebrick for 88¢ each. They also have fireclay for $19/50lb bag. The sales office is next to Subway and the brickyard is just around the corner. Carolina Ceramics on Two Notch has light duty firebrick for 78¢ each and fireclay (identical product as Boral) for $25/bag. Most other supplies for my build came from Lowes, HD and the local concrete plant.
