Default Materials in Adelaide South Australia

Hi All

For anyone building in South Australia, I was able to source materials quickly and easilly so far. Second hand red bricks from the classifieds, vermiculite from Adelaide Moulding and Casting Supplies on Marion Road, firebricks and clay from The Littlehampton Brick Company (I bought seconds as they were slightly cheaper).

Don't look too closely at the bond of my base. That was the point though - to practice my brickie skills.

Thumbs up Re: Materials in Adelaide South Australia

Hi Poops and welcome aboard.
Great to another Aussie especially one from SA and Adelaide join the list.
From your pics, it looks like you're located in the Adelaide hills.
Looks like you've done your homework and well underway. Thermal ceramics on Toogood Ave at Beverley is also a great place to get most of what you want at probably a better price than some other suppliers
Keep the pics coming as you progress.

Cheers,

Neill.

A dry set out is whats needed, 30 years in the trade and I still do it to make sure it all fits.

Hey Nathan

Thanks for the link to the pics.

I'm kinda making this thing up as I go along ... and am a way off from the flue design. The vent is likely to be almost directly under the end frame of my pergola which sounds like the challenge you faced, so I may well need to incorporate a bend.

I'll let you know if I'm keen when I get to it, but understand if someone snaps it up in the meantime.

Cheers
