| I was at the masonry supply this afternoon picking up firebrick to line my smoker, and after I cherrypicked the pallet, the loader offered me the "defects" off the pallet for free. He said that no one will buy the damaged bricks, so they end up tossing them out. Several of the "defects" were only cracked on one end. They were still suitable for cuts, and could be used in the dome. It might take a while to collect enough "bad" bricks for a full dome, but for someone on a very tight budget it's an interesting alternative. |
