Default Ceramic egg pizza ovens - WFO & coal cooking?

I have been offered this with affordable shipping to Australia:

Ceramic Portable Pizza Oven works out at $446 USD inclusive. Same principal as the big green egg.

What do members think about this oven? Video is here: YouTube - Earthfire Ceramic Pizza Oven

Hi Gayle,

My initial reaction:

It looks a bit small to me; there is no mention of the dimensions on the page. The website says it maintains 300c (570F). This is just a few degrees warmer than most home ovens get. And at $446 USD, it's pricey for what it does.

I'm amazed at some of the pizza other members here have cooked in their home ovens. Honestly, I think you can do better with your kitchen oven and a stone (for $50 USD or less); and you can probably find a stone locally.

Here's an electric pizza bake posted yesterday. Made my mouth water! I think it looks nicer than the pizza displayed on the ceramic oven site and video.

If you do buy this oven, be sure to take lots of pictures and post a review of it for us!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Ken

Yes, it looks tiny. Six minutes? That's an eternity in pizza land. I agree with ken, you're better off with a pizza stone in your home oven.

It's true that a good pizza stone in a 550F oven can bake a nice pizza in 4-5 minutes.

Thanks for that. I will stick with my hooded bbq then as I live in a sub-tropical climate and the oven heats up the house too much in summer.

I did think 6 minutes was too long as well.

Back to the drawing board!

No, but did have a green try snake crawling over the top of the fence. Lots of beautiful parrots.
